ABOUT THE CINEMATOGRAHER
Yanina is a New York-based visual artist whose work spans across photography, filmmaking, and multidisciplinary art. Grounded in darkroom photography and film development. As a photographer, Yanina’s distinct visual language is vibrant, authentic, and expertly composed, crafting compelling images for both emerging creatives and established brands. She is grateful to have had the opportunity to work with distinguished and talented actors such as Martha Millan (Fiona, The Cleaning Lady) and Antwayn Hopper (Hakim, Will Trent). Her work with numerous musicians and bands has been featured in publications like Vogue Brasil, Fader Magazine, and 1814 Magazine, and she is thankful for the chance to have her work featured in such reputable and influential spaces. As a filmmaker, Yanina effortlessly moves between the roles of director, cinematographer, producer, and writer. The Opposites, a short film she co-created with the team at Grandson Studios, won the Silver Remi Award at the 57th Annual WorldFest Houston International Film Festival in 2024. The film, aimed at young adults, explores healthy ways to confront trauma and the positive outcomes that result from doing so. Yanina is grateful for the recognition and the incredible collaboration that made this achievement possible. With a growing body of work that reflects her dedication to creativity and collaboration, Yanina is focused on making an enduring impact in both the art and entertainment industries. She is excited about the new projects and opportunities ahead and looks forward to continuing to collaborate, create, and tell meaningful stories that not only entertain but also connect deeply with viewers.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
In 2022, filmmaker Lucio Nieto teamed up with two students from Ball High School to create an original film which would depict the lives of twin brothers, Isaiah Williams and Isaac Williams. Once the story was conceptualized, Lucio called long-time friend and creative comrade, Yanina May, to produce and serve as the DP, along with many other titles. The story is based on true events from their childhood dealing with themes of parental influence and their internalized feelings of loss and abandonment. Through the lens of these young artists, the film is conceptualized as a teen fantasy film through the medium of film and comic-style animation. In 2024, The Opposites was submitted to the 57th Annual WorldFest Houston International Film Festival and awarded the prestigious Silver REMI Award. In 1972, Steven Spielberg was awarded the Gold REMI Award with his short film, Amblin'. This is Lucio Nieto's second win as a film director following the success of his win for his short film, Omorfia, which received limited distribution on Amazon Prime from 2020–2023. Throughout his career as an actor, Lucio received accolades in a leading actor role for Best Actor in JACK (Wendy's Shorts 2015), a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in GOLD (2020), and most recently, voted Best Actor by his esteemed community in Galveston for the honorary Galveston.com "Best Of" Award. Please join Lucio and his creative team as they celebrate this triumph of their work in creating a film geared for youth, helping elevate the greater cause of how we all face our traumas head on, and ultimately, paving the way for other young artists to find hope and healing through the power of their imagination manifested in the arts.
